There Are Pitfalls To Not Having
The Right Camping Equipment
Having the right camping
equipment is crucial to any successful camping trip. Unfortunately, if you
have never been out in the woods before, it is hard to figure out what
camping supplies you will need exactly. Of course, everyone knows the
basics. You need a tent, sleeping bag, cooking stove, a few pots and pans,
and some silverware. Nonetheless, there are many different varieties of all
of this equipment. What will work for you and what won't is something that
you won't figure out until it is too late. This is why it is important to
camp with a veteran outdoorsman if you have never gone before.
I learned this the hard way. I went out to buy my own camping equipment
before going up in the mountains. At that period of my life, I was always
broke. I bought the most inexpensive camping gear that I could find. I had
the same kind of sleeping bag that I had as a kid – bulky, inefficient, and
made with cotton filling. needless to say, I was cold. I did not have the
right camping equipment. Even my sweaters were not sufficient. It was the
middle of the summer, so I had not thought about how cold it can get in the
mountains at night. After the first night, however, I was quite aware of the
pitfalls of mountain camping. By that point, however, it was too late to get
the right camping equipment to save my trip.
Getting the right camping food is even a bigger problem. Planning out a
weeks worth of meals in advance is something that most people don't do.
Planning out a weeks worth of meals in the wilderness, however, is nearly
impossible if you haven't done it before. There are many varieties of
camping equipment designed to make cooking easier, but most of them don't
work. Basically, you have to be willing to stick to the basics, and you have
to be willing to have things take a little longer.
Camping stoves are heavy and inefficient, but cooking with camping fire can
be quite difficult if you haven't done it before. If you're going on a first
camping trip, I would recommend having the most basic camping equipment and
camping food that you can. Buy a camp stove, some beans, and some other
forms of canned food. You will not eat well, but at least you will be able
to have a hot meal every night.
